Maldon is located 140 kilometres to the north west of Melbourne. Mountain biking in the area is limited to downhill riding in the Mount Tarrengower area.
The Bike Vault (bike shop in Castlemaine) has provided some information on the Rotorburn website and this is copied below for your information:
"Mt Tarrengower has 3 main downhill tracks which are all totally different to each other.
It has a sealed road all the way to the top which is about a 2 minute drive so the shuttles are really quick. The tracks include:
Valley: (the fastest track). A 2km track that you can finish in less than 2 minutes. Very easy track, great for beginners. Nothing technical on it at all, just a very fast and fun track.
City Link: (the favorite track) the best track on the mount full of obstacles. Its got plenty of berms, some Northshore, drops, a road gap (has now been shortened), some small rock gardens, off camber corners, fast long straights for pedalling, heaps of jumps including some over small mine shafts and a 30+ ski jump at the end. It’s a great fun track for every level rider.
City Link and Valley both start on the fire road next to the main road then turn right after the Telstra tower and you will see the first jump. For valley turn left just before the road gap on City Link and follow the fire road down the hill.
Rockin: (the power line track). Picture a steep long rock garden the length of a downhill track and you’ve got Rockin. Not recommended for beginners or anyone on a hardtail. Starts under the power lines.
When in Maldon turn right at the main street and go up about a km and turn left at the sign saying Mt Tarrengower and go up there park at the bottom at the shed on the right. Mount Tarrengower is a great place to ride all year round."
No Bancoora videos for this location yet but here's a YouTube video to give you a teaser of the area from Trail Depot's channel. This channel has a lot of good videos from around Victoria and elsewhere and is worth a look. There are 3 of Mt Tarrengower in there for viewing.
